About Elizabeth: My Roots
Elizabeth’s path to therapy began at the intersection of two worlds. As a queer, second-generation Vietnamese American born to a family that survived a decade-long separation across two shores, she grew up navigating the invisible threads of the immigrant experience. Being born into a family with vast age gaps and complex reunion stories meant learning the languages of unsettled safety, the habit of over-functioning for others, and the search for a self that isn't just an extension of someone else. She understands that some challenges aren't just life events, they can feel woven into your very DNA.
At Fruitea Therapy, Elizabeth translates this lived experience into a soulful, body-centered sanctuary. She believes every person is a unique blend of heritage and heart worth holding space for. Her specialized training in somatic work and EMDR allows her to facilitate the kind of deep, integrated healing that leads to true, whole-body wellness.
Healing: Beyond the Surface
Elizabeth moves beyond traditional talk therapy by using evidence-based tools that speak to the parts of the soul that words alone cannot reach.
Somatic Mapping: Since the body remembers what the mind tries to forget, Elizabeth helps you pinpoint where tension lives—the knot in the stomach, the tension in the shoulders or even the weakened immune system. We aim to teach your nervous system how to finally let go and feel safe in the present through breathwork, body awareness, visualization, body movement, and more.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Integration: Think of EMDR as a way to update your brain's internal software when it’s been bogged down by old, disturbing data. Lived experiences like childhood, difficult relationships, or traumatic events can leave behind glitches in the form of core beliefs such as 'I am not good enough' or 'I am not safe.' These stuck memories often cause us to react in ways that feel out of our power, like avoiding conflict, feeling constant anxiety or sadness, or replaying situations over and over in our heads. Elizabeth uses EMDR to help you update your data by debugging the disturbing memories or stories. Through this process, you can replace old fears with a healthier, more resilient way of seeing yourself.
